Bratwurst Drop
New York City may have the New Year’s Ball Drop, but Bucyrus has the Bicentennial Bratwurst Drop!
On May 1, a 10-foot long fiberglass bratwurst will be hoisted between two Bucyrus Fire Department ladder trucks at Washington Square, marking the official start of celebrations for the Bucyrus Bicentennial.
Please join us for this historic event on Washington Square.
Opening Ceremony and Festivities will begin at 11 am. Mayor Jeff Reser will make opening remarks. Denny Norton (6th Generation of the founding Norton Family) will also speak.
At 12:00 noon, students from the local schools will perform at the main stage.
Starting at 12:30, stories will be told at Picking Park. Coloring sheets and games will be held at the mural at Millennium Park.
The Bratwurst Sandwich Drop will be promptly at 3:00 pm on Washington Square.
Throughout the day, family-fun entertainment will be happening throughout Washington Square and also on the Schines Art Park Stage.
